When To Use Rewards
Rewards used:
Behaviour charts
Impact:
Generally they get bored of them after a few days but the latest one has been working for a few weeks.
Rewards used:
Computer - once he has eaten all his dinner
Impact:
Works every time!
Rewards used:
sticker chart. used when completed tasks or simple things as getting dressed
Impact:
took a while to get going then went okay but got bored
Rewards used:
Stickers, tattoos lollipops and silver money for getting ready for school and helping around the house. Also longer at the park.
Impact:
Zac responds better to silver money as he knows he can spend it and does motivate him most of the time but sometimes will try ask for more money for the same thing or a smaller job. He sometimes cooperates to get longer at the park but is usually when we are actually there.
Rewards used:
for chores. a marble jar for a set holiday period and agreed reward for all 3 girls when jar full.
Impact:
For defined specific chores and time limit OK
Rewards used:
We will have an ice lolly when we finish tidying up your toys. Can you please help?
Impact:
Quite well.
Rewards used:
Staying in bed / not screaming - a sticker chart with a special treat at the end.
Impact:
Great. Short term.
Rewards used:
pocket money for clearign the table or simple household chores
Impact:
not amazingly. My child said they didnt want to earn any money!
Rewards used:
watching an episode of number blocks whilst brushing teeth
Impact:
worked well
Rewards used:
Initially it was every 5 nights he sleeps through (and doesn't disturb M&D) he gets to go bowling.
Impact:
It worked very well - we had to change the system to 12 nights because it was getting expensive. He does not sleep through every night but most nights he does now which has changed our lives.
