When you are ignoring annoying behaviour, how do you plan to stay calm? What coping thoughts could you say to yourself?
Staying Calm:
Don’t react
Coping Thoughts:
This will work if I ignore this behaviour
Staying Calm:
Hum or look out of the window
Coping Thoughts:
This is just a phase I know I can stay calm and this is a better way than I might usually use
Staying Calm:
The breathing technique and taking myself away from the situation.
Coping Thoughts:
This will pass in a minute. It won't help if you shout.
Staying Calm:
count to ten, sing to myself
Coping Thoughts:
stay calm, breathe
Staying Calm:
Get myself distracted asap, check my phone, make myself cup of tea, look out of the window, play with the cat
Coping Thoughts:
It won't last forever, keep your cool, patience is a virtue
Staying Calm:
4-2-4 breathing
Coping Thoughts:
This won't last forever
Staying Calm:
Breathing, remembering that it will pass and that I am doing the right thing.
Coping Thoughts:
it will get better.

walking away and trying the breathing exercise

it's just a phase and will pass
